Welcome to Summer 2009 Classes
On the left side of this page you will find links to the page for each class where you will find a class description and any recorded audio or other documents for the Growth Classes offered this Quarter.
This summer we are having a special summer session of the growth classes! The summer quarter is shortened to five weeks, June 21 through July 26, and all the growth classes will take place during the first summer service at 9:00 AM.
Are you a music lover? Check out the class Christian Faith Expressed in the Music of the Great Christian Composers. Bach, Haydn, and Handel (as well as many others) expressed their faith through the music they composed. Musical examples will be presented in class to illustrate how their faith was expressed in their music.
Want to dig deep in the Old Testament? Check out Mark Chavalas's class on Nahum. At first glance, the little prophetic book of Nahum does not appear to be a good fit in the Old Testament. After all, the main topic in the book is the seemingly gleeful announcement by the prophet of the fall of Nineveh. However, one can glean much about God’s attributes of mercy and judgment from this little book. The class will do a verse by verse study, as well as examine the historical background of the period (7th century B.C.).
Want to know more about the real Jesus? Check out WDJD: What DID Jesus Do? Studies from the Gospel of Mark. In this class you will witness Jesus healing the sick, see him casting out demons, watch as he confronts the religious leaders of the day, and listen as he answers hard questions and speaks as no one else ever did! This is a continuation of Andrew LeCleir's spring quarter class.
We are excited about each of these three classes and hope that you will check them out in person or online!
